Our 13 year old daughter Makayla is on her own mission,
I've always referred to her as my little philanthropist.
Fundraising is nothing new to Makayla,
when she was 7 years old she sold charms to raise money for cancer research.
When she was 8 years old she sold more charms, to raise money to build stuffed bears for terminally ill children.
When she was 9 years old she started a fundraiser called "Aidan's Walk" in memory of a little boy she knew who died of neuroblastoma cancer. On what would have been his fourth birthday she walked 5km in -34 degree weather raising money and awareness.
In four years she raised over $7500 for this cause.
Makayla has also participated in the Relay For Life 12 Hour overnight walk two years in a row!
Now she has started "Makayla's DBA Bracelets"!!
Makayla hand strings glass beaded bracelets to help raise money for DBA. In under two years, her $7 bracelets have raised over $2000.00!!

In 2010 Makayla was awarded one of only 12 Ontario Junior Citizen of the year awards. A prestigious award granted to Children making a difference in Ontario
